WORSHIP& EDUCATION NEWS:
 
ADULT EDUCATION: Sunday at 9:00 am continues its study of Matthew.
SUNDAY SCHOOL (for ages kindergarten through the 4th grade): Sunday at 9:00 am at the First United Methodist Church continues its study on Jonathan.  
 
WORSHIP: March 1, Holy Eucharist at 10:30 am with the Rev. Angie Tharakan from All Saints Russelleville as our celebrant.
 
Readings Sunday, Mar 1: Genesis 17:1-7, 15-16; Psalm 22:22-30; Romans 4:13-25; Mark 8:31-38.
 
LENTEN EVENING PRAYER: All Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays during Lent at 5:30 in the chapel.  This week’s worship leader is Mike Fielder.
 
WEDNESDAY, March 4, we will have Holy Eucharist at 5:30 in the chapel led by Arnold Hearn followed by a light meal hosted by your Vestry.
 
FELLOWSHIP NEWS:
 
WEDNESDAY, March 4, following the 5:30 Eucharist we will have our first LENTEN MEAL hosted by your vestry.

St. John’s Good Samaritans (ECW):  Please feel free to call Maureen Jones (404-697-7197) or Jeannie Turley (870-816-6387) if you are in need of some help with errands or transportation or food, or if you would just like some company.  These and other members of the ECW have graciously offered their time to assist anyone needing help.  If you would like to volunteer services, please let Maureen or Jeannie know.

The Samaritan’s Purse: The Samaritan’s purse category for donation for this month is accessories for girls age 5-14 (bracelets, hair bands, hair clips, necklaces, rings and earrings. A   basket for the collection of these items will be in the narthex every Sunday.
 
Angels of Grace –The items from their wish list this week are new towels of any size for the women’s shelter. Their office is on 406 Pecan Street.

The women of the Helena United Methodist Church cordially invite everyone to attend “Lenten Listening” services beginning Ash Wednesday, Feb. 18th at 12:00 noon each week.  These services will continue on Wednesday through April 1st.  Bring a sandwich and they will furnish beverage and dessert.  A nursery will be provided.  This week’s speaker will be Johnnie June Doughtie with music by Tammy Strain.

Our celebrant for the 10:30 service will be Rev. Arnold Hearn. 
 
Readings Sunday, Feb. 15th: 2 Kings 2:1-12; Psalm 50:1-6; 2 Corinthians 4:3-6; Mark 9:2-9.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake supper on Tuesday, Feb. 17th at 6:00 pm.  Cost is $5.00 per person.

Grace Henderson has retired from her many years of service at St. John’s as a worship leader and lay Eucharistic minister.  We appreciate all her years of dedication and devotion to our Lord.  Thank you Grace.  You will be missed.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church is hosting its annual Mardi Gras Seafood dinner and raffle event again this year on February the 6th from 5:30-8:00 p.m. Contact their church office to purchase tickets which are $15.00.
 
St. Mark’s Episcopal Church is offering a one-day Lectio Divina Workshop on Saturday, March, 7 2015.  The cost is $25 which includes lunch. It runs from 8:30am-3:00pm.  St. Mark’s is located at 1000 N. Mississippi, Little rock, AR.  Lectio Divina is a way of paying the scriptures. It is a means of listening to the word of God in Scripture and a traditional way of cultivating a friendship with Christ.  You can register by calling their church office at 501-225-4203.
