CHRISTMAS EVE CANDLELIGHT SERVICE 5:30 P.M.

The four Sundays of Advent have come and gone.  The beautiful blue vestments and altar hangings have been put away for another year. Christmas is almost here! A Christmas Eve celebration of our Lord’s birth is a long standing tradition at St. John’s.  Whether you have been attending for decades or this is your first time, I invite you to join in celebrating this holiest of nights.  The secular observance of Christmas includes much fun and merriment, but it cannot compare with the deep JOY we experience when we take time to remember and celebrate its real meaning. As St. Athanasius said fifteen hundred years ago: “Christ became like us so that we might become like Christ.” Now, that is something worth celebrating!   Christmas Blessings, Fr. Ray+

This coming Sunday, December 18, we will be dedicating new choir robes during our worship service.  These beautiful new robes are a gift from the Morris and Bernie families in memory of Walter Morris IV.  We dedicate these new robes to the glory of God and in memory of one whose brief life impacted many people across our country and in far off countries, too.  Also, we affirm the importance of music as a means of bringing glory to God and joy to the human heart.  As we prepare to dedicate these new robes, we also express our appreciation to our choir and their director, Jack Myers.  Their ministry in our midst is truly a gift!  Blessings---Fr. Ray +

Christmas Eve is less than two weeks away!  St. John’s will celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior at 5:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve.  This lovely service will include candlelight and special music by Katherine and Rachel Wright.  This is a wonderful opportunity to invite friends and family to come and remember the real meaning of Christmas.  ---- Fr. Ray+

A SPECIAL CHRISTMAS REQUEST FROM ST. FRANCIS HOUSE

St. Francis House is an Episcopal ministry in Little Rock that does a wonderful job caring for needy veterans and others throughout the year. The following request was put out this week as they prepare to help make Christmas brighter for our veterans and other persons in need:

We Need a Little Christmas

Outside our normal budget, we take on several Christmas projects that go to meet the needs of clients that have nowhere else to turn including holiday food gift boxes, gift bags for seniors, and presents for the families not adopted by other ministry drives. St. Francis House practically shuts down for a week as the staff personally packs the gift boxes and a tries to find ways to meet the needs the overlooked and underserved. Join us this holiday season by making a special donation so we can bring as many special memories to families as we can.

Gifts can be made directly to St. Francis House at:

St. Francis House, 2701 S. Elm, Little Rock, Arkansas, 72204.

 (All contributions are tax deductible)

Or, if you prefer, you can write a check to St. John’s, designated for St. Francis House and we will send in all donations in a single check.  Blessings!  Fr. Ray +
