WORSHIP& EDUCATION NEWS:
 
ADULT EDUCATION: Sunday, March 6, at 9:00 am until 10:00 am.  We are currently studying the gospel of Matthew using N.T. Wright’s book.
 
SUNDAY SCHOOL will be held at 9:00 at the First United Methodist Church.
 
WORSHIP:   March 6, Morning Prayer, Rite I, with Ann Lee reading.
 
READINGS for this Sunday (Fourth Sunday in Lent) are:  Joshua 5:9-12; Psalm 32;
 2 Corinthians 5:16-21; Luke 15:1-3, 11b-32.
 
Easter Lilies order form will be in your bulletin.  Cut-off date is March 18.
  
Be sure to fill your Mite Boxes. These will be collected on Easter and the children of the parish will bring them forward during offertory.
 
HOLY EUCHARIST will be held in the chapel at 12:00 noon on March 10th.  Rev. Arnold Hearn from Marianna will be our celebrant.  A lite lunch (Picnic in the Pews) will be provided by the ECW immediately afterwards.
 
Evening Prayer is at 5:30 in the chapel Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday throughout Lent.
 
ALTAR GUILD NEWS:
 
Altar Guild will meet Saturday, March 19th to make palm crosses and polish.
Altar Guild will meet Saturday, March 26th to prepare the sanctuary for Holy Easter.
 
Easter Lilies order form will be in your bulletin.  The price of the lilies is $16.00.  Please make checks payable to St. John’s Altar Guild.  The last day to turn in your Easter lily donation form and have it printed in the program is Friday, March 18.  You may pick up these forms in the church office also, or Marjie can email you a copy.
 
 PASTORAL NEWS:
 
Pastoral Visitors:  Melody Rogers.  The ministry duty runs from Sunday to the next Sunday.  Each week the pastoral visitor or visitors will visit the members of St. John’s that are either sick or shut-in.
 
St. John’s Good Samaritans (ECW):  Please feel free to call Maureen Jones (404-697-7197) or Jeannie Turley (870-816-6387) if you are in need of some help with errands or transportation or food, or if you would just like some company.  These and other members of the church have graciously offered their time to assist anyone needing help.  If you would like to volunteer services, please let Maureen or Jeannie know.

The Samaritan’s Purse:  Donations that will fit in a shoe box can be placed in the basket by front door.  Needed for March are Clothes for girls 10 - 14, age appropriate and nothing to revealing.  Dresses, tops, pants (short or long), bras, panties, pajamas, slippers and shoes
 
Angels of Grace The item from their wish list this week is laundry detergent & bleach for the women’s shelter. Please place you items in the plastic tub at the stair landing just outside the chapel coming up from the undercroft.
 
Anchor Mission Ministry Box: This week’s donation item is laundry detergent & bleach.  Their donation box is located off the chapel in the stairwell next to the Angels of Grace box.
 
Humane Society of the Delta:  Donations needed are cat litter, laundry detergent and large bath towels.  A large donation tub has been placed with the others off the chapel stairwell or you can call 870-753-2119 or 870-995-2379 and they will pick up your donation.  You may also take your donation directly to the shelter, 9518 Phillips 300 Rd. between the hours of 7-10 am or 2-5 pm.

WORSHIP: February 14, Holy Eucharist, Rite I, with Rev. Senter Crook as our supply priest.
 
It has been requested that the acolytes ring the chimes five minutes before the start of the Sunday service to initiate a period of silence for prayer.  Please respect others’ need for silence at this time.  THANK YOU.
 
 READINGS for this Sunday are:   Deuteronomy 26:1-11; Psalm 91:1-2, 9-16; Romans 10:8b-13; Luke 4:1-13
 
ASH WEDNESDAY Holy Eucharist with the imposition of ashes on Wednesday, Feb. 10th at 5:30 in the chapel.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church Mardi Gras Seafood Dinner will be Friday, February 5th beginning at 5:00 until 8:00 pm at St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Seafood Dinner Tickets are $15.00.  This includes Shrimp Etoufee, Jambayla, French Bread, Coleslaw, Cake and Beverage. Carry outs will be available.  Also available at an additional cost will be Oysters on the Half-Shells and Pickled Shrimp.
