From Fr. Ray: Last week I visited the Grace Food Pantry just across the street from St. John’s. I enjoyed meeting the many volunteers and their leader Rev. Doris Smith. I was impressed with the energy and organization of this vital ministry and am glad St. John’s supports this wonderful effort to counter food insecurity in our community. I learned that the pantry provides food for 150-180 families each week, making it one of the, if not the largest food pantry in the state of Arkansas. When you consider the fact the families can only receive food once a month, it means the pantry is serving in excess of 600 families each month. I spent part of my time visiting with the many folks waiting in line for food. Over and over again I heard stories about how this monthly assistance makes a huge difference in the lives of their families. Thank you for supporting the Grace Food Pantry! --Fr. Ray +

The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 7, in the undercroft at 5:30.

Re: St. John's Anniversary

We hope to have not only our church family attend our 100th celebration but also many of the cousins, sisters and brothers, and friends of our families.  So, to this end and because it will be great fun, we hope you will bring  to the church office very soon your old photos of St. John's folks' brides and grooms, baby christenings,  Christmas and  Easter celebrations, picnics, Sunday School and the St. John's Kindergarten children. We also need pictures of past priests if you have them as well of photos of our beloved members who have died and any photos you have of the church with the steeple.

We will make copies (or you can make copies of your pictures for 29 cents each at Walmart where the most delightful Carolyn in the photo department will help you). Your originals will be taken care of ad returned to you.

We also ask that you attach a sheet with names of those pictured since we may not recognize them if the pictures are vintage. We'll have a Saints' Gallery and a Hope to Be Saints Gallery. If there is enough interest we would like to produce a photo book that will be for sale and possibly a video!

Our church has produced more than a few priests: Bishop Allen, Lawson Anderson, Peggy Bosmeyer, Danny Schieffler, Chris Hardman and possibly Hank Perrin...please correct me on the last if I am wrong. We need photos of these dear folk.

Stay tuned for more news as we proceed with plans. It should be a gala time for all of us.

Grace Henderson

Dear St. John’s Family,

Last Friday evening’s service celebrating our new ministry together was wonderful in every way.   So many folks contributed time, talent and energy to make for a memorable evening.  The reception following the service was delightful, too.  The food was great and the fellowship sweet.  My sincere, heartfelt thanks go out to all who played a part in this special evening.
