St. John’s Episcopal Church                      Sunday July 12, 2015

 
WORSHIP& EDUCATION NEWS:
 
ADULT EDUCATION: Class will meet at its regular time (9:00 am Sunday).
SUNDAY SCHOOL: Will not meet during the months of June and July.
 
WORSHIP: July 12th Holy Eucharist Rite II with Rev James Newson, Chaplain at St. George’s Independent School, Germantown TN as officiant.
 
READINGS for July 12th are: Amos 7:7-15; Psalm 85:8-13; Ephesians 1:3-14; Mark 6:14-29.
 
 Midweek service on July 15th.  We will have midweek Holy Eucharist this Wednesday at 5:30 in the chapel with Rev. Arnold Hearn officiating.
 
FELLOWSHIP NEWS:  Mark your Calendars!  Join us for Food, Fun and Fellowship next week on July 19th in the chapel immediately following church to welcome our visiting guests, “Together for Hope” from North Carolina.
 
 
ECW NEWS:   The ECW will meet Monday, July 13, 2015, at 5:00 PM at the home of Carla Myers.
 
PASTORAL NEWS:
 
St. John’s Good Samaritans (ECW):  Please feel free to call Maureen Jones (404-697-7197) or Jeannie Turley (870-816-6387) if you are in need of some help with errands or transportation or food, or if you would just like some company.  These and other members of the church have graciously offered their time to assist anyone needing help.  If you would like to volunteer services, please let Maureen or Jeannie know.

The Samaritan’s Purse: The Samaritan’s purse category for donations in July is:
 
Girls Toys for ages 2-4, 5-9 and 10-14.Dolls (baby, rag, teen and paper), jump ropes, Yo- Yo’s, Toy dishes, pots and pans, crayons, harmonica, horn, whistle (noise makers).  Flashlights with batteries, coloring books and colored markers.  Remember EVERYTHING must fit in a SHOE BOX!
Angels of GraceThe item from their wish list this week is paper towels for the women’s shelter. Please place you items in the plastic tub at the stair landing just outside the chapel coming up from the undercroft. Our tub is rather empty now.

Altar flower donations are needy for July 19th and 26th.  Please contact Ann Lee if you would like to donate the altar flowers on one of these Sundays.
 
We will be hosting “Together for Hope” in our undercroft from July12th to July 24th.
The first group of about 22 from Calvary Baptist Church arrive late on Sunday the 12th and leave on the17th so unfortunately they won’t be able to attend church with us.  The next group of about 12 from Greystone Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC comes in on Saturday the 18th and will be with us until the 24th.  We will have a time of food, fun and fellowship on July 19th immediately after church in the chapel so we can meet and greet our guests from North Carolina and our supply priest, Rev. Bill Burks. 
 
On Sunday, July 12th, we will have Holy Eucharist with Rev. James Newsom from Germantown officiating.
 
On Sunday, July 19th, we will have Holy Eucharist with Rev. Bill Burks from Humboldt, TN officiating.
 
On Sunday, July 26th, Rev Ken Parks will be back with us to celebrate the Holy Eucharist.
