St. John’s Episcopal Church - Sunday, May 27, 2018
From Fr. Ray+
John 13:35 says,
“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
It was a great joy watching the many expressions of love last Sunday at St. John’s! Our members and friends went out of their way to make sure graduating senior Marzell Moody knows that he is loved by his church family. Members of our Fellowship Committee did a great job preparing and serving Marzell’s favorite foods and decorating the undercroft. Recognizing Marzell’s need for a phone, the ECW gave him a new phone along with six months of pre-paid service. That will be a huge help when he starts college in a few months. Also, many folks provided encouragement to Marzell with congratulatory cards and cash gifts. Please accept my sincere THANK YOU to all who did so much to make the reception for Marzell such a wonderful experience! In his sermon at the royal wedding last week, Presiding Bishop Michael Curry said that only love has the power to change our world. He was right. May we, by God’s grace, continue to change the world by the power of love.
Earlier this year we gathered for lunch after worship and discussed those things we value and appreciate about St. John’s Church. Based on that discussion, we have created three teams that will consider how we focus our future ministries on those three dimensions of our life together. Several folks have agreed to serve on each team, but others are certainly welcome. If you would like to be part of one, or more, of these teams, please let Fr. Ray know. The three teams are:
Blessings, Fr. Ray+
