WORSHIP& EDUCATION NEWS:
 
ADULT EDUCATION: Sunday, Oct. 11th at 9:00 am until 10:00 am.
 
SUNDAY SCHOOL: Sunday, Oct. 11th at 9:00 am youth choir followed by Sunday school at the First United Methodist Church.
 
WORSHIP: October 11th, Holy Eucharist Rite II with Tom Baker, Director of Spiritual care and religious services at Baxter County Hospital in Mt. Home.
 
                           SERVICES WILL BE IN THE CHAPEL!
 
READINGS for October 11th are: Amos 5:6-7, 10-15; Psalm 90:12-17; Hebrew 4:12-16; Mark 10:17-31.
 
NO Midweek Eucharist on Wednesday, October 14th due to roofing project.

PASTORAL NEWS:
 
Pastoral Visitor:   Allison Biederman.  This is a new ministry.  Each week the pastoral visitor or visitors will visit the members of St. John’s that are either sick or shut-in.
 
St. John’s Good Samaritans (ECW):  Please feel free to call Maureen Jones (404-697-7197) or Jeannie Turley (870-816-6387) if you are in need of some help with errands or transportation or food, or if you would just like some company.  These and other members of the church have graciously offered their time to assist anyone needing help.  If you would like to volunteer services, please let Maureen or Jeannie know.

The Samaritan’s Purse: The Samaritan’s purse category for donations in October is:
Clothes and toys for boys and girls:  ages 10-14 years.  Their basket will be in the stair well off the chapel during the month of October.

Angels of Grace The item from their wish list this week is laundry detergent for the women’s shelter. Please place you items in the plastic tub at the stair landing just outside the chapel coming up from the undercroft. Our tub is rather empty now.
 
Anchor Mission Ministry Box: This week’s donation item is laundry detergent. They will accept donations for personal hygiene (deodorant, soap bars, tooth brush and tooth paste, wash cloths & towels, shampoo) laundry detergent, paper towels and toilet tissue.  They also need prepared casseroles that they can freeze and put in their freezer.  They feed hot meals at noon five days a week with devotional included. This mission ministers to the homeless and hungry and is located on the bypass.  Their donation box is located off the chapel in the stairwell next to the Angels of Grace box.  Monetary donations may be sent to Brenda Knapp’s CPA office located at 207 N. Sebastian, West Helena 72390.
 
UNITED THANK OFFERING INGATHERING will take place this Sunday, October 11th and on next Sunday the 18thPlease remember this program is for both men & women.

The ECW will meet on Monday, October 12th at 5:00 pm at the home of Martha Lambert.
 
ALTAR GUILD TEAM 1 (Susan’s team) NEWS:  Polish day on October 3rd cancelled.  Both altar guild teams will meet to polish and clean when the roofing project is completed.
 
FELLOWSHIP NEWS:   Mark your calendars!  Blessing of the Animals celebrating St. Francis this Sunday, October 4, at 4:00 pm in the Methodists’ garden.

The ECW will be hosting a luncheon at 12:00 noon on Sat. Sept 26th featuring Betsy Watson, author of “A Modern Woman’s Guide to an Old Fashioned Christmas”. Tickets are $10.00.

ADULT EDUCATION: Begins this Sunday, Sept.13th at 9:00 am until 10:00 am.
SUNDAY SCHOOL: To be announced
 
WORSHIP: September 13 Holy Eucharist Rite II at 10:30 with the Rev. Tom Baker, Director of Spiritual Care, at Baxter Regional Hospital Mt. Home AR. Immediately following the service we will have a time of food, fun and fellowship in the chapel.
 
READINGS for Sept. 13 are: Isaiah 50; 4-9A; Psalm 116:1-8; James 3:1-12; Mark 8:27-38.
 
There will be NO midweek service on Wednesday, September 16th.
 
ECW NEWS: The ECW will meet on THIS Monday, Sept. 14th at 5:00 pm at the home of Ruth Howe.
 
The ECW will be hosting a luncheon on Sat. Sept 26th featuring Betsy Watson, author of “A Modern Woman’s Guide to an Old Fashioned Christmas”.  Watch for times and more info.
 
FELLOWSHIP NEWS:  On Sunday 13th immediately following the service, we will have a time of food, fun, and fellowship in the chapel.  Maureen Jones will lead a sewing class for the Samaritan’s purse, Christmas box project at 403 Cherry St. the new location for her store, haute pare right after this fellowship time.  Bring a sack lunch and drink to the sewing class.
