WORSHIP& EDUCATION NEWS:
 
ADULT EDUCATION: Will not meet until Sept.
SUNDAY SCHOOL: Will not meet during the months of June, July and Aug.
 
WORSHIP: August 9th, Holy Eucharist Rite II with Rev. Senter Crook from as the officiant.
 
READINGS for Aug. 9th are: I Kings 19:4-8; Psalm34:1-8; Ephesians 4:25-5:2; John 6:35, 41-51.
 
Midweek service UPDATE.  No midweek Holy Eucharist until Wednesday, August 19 at 5:30 in the chapel with Rev. Arnold Hearn officiating.
 
FELLOWSHIP NEWS:  Coffee time with conversation and open discussions at 9:30 until 10:15 in the undercroft every Sunday! We will do this until Sunday school resumes after Labor Day.
 
PASTORAL NEWS:
 
Pastoral Visitor: Ruth Howe.  This is a new ministry.  Each week the pastoral visitor or visitors will visit the members of St. John’s that are either sick or shut-in.
 
St. John’s Good Samaritans (ECW):  Please feel free to call Maureen Jones (404-697-7197) or Jeannie Turley (870-816-6387) if you are in need of some help with errands or transportation or food, or if you would just like some company.  These and other members of the church have graciously offered their time to assist anyone needing help.  If you would like to volunteer services, please let Maureen or Jeannie know.

EVANGELISM NEWS:  Our annual Teach for America Party sponsored by the ECW will be held at the home of Walter and Jayne Morris at Moon Lake MS.  We will be providing more information in the coming weeks.
 
ECW NEWS: THE ECW WILL MEET AT 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 10th at the home of Susan Carter.

The Samaritan’s Purse: The Samaritan’s purse category for donations in August is:
 
School Supplies for ages 5-14 boys and girls:
 
Pens and Pencils, all kinds and sizes of paper, erasers, tablets, markers, glue, colored pencils, chalk and chalk boards.  Remember EVERYTHING must fit in a SHOE BOX.
 
Angels of Grace The item from their wish list this week is toilet tissue for the women’s shelter. Please place you items in the plastic tub at the stair landing just outside the chapel coming up from the undercroft. Our tub is rather empty now.
 
CHURCH OFFICE NEWS and ANNOUNCEMENTS:
 
A NEW MINISTRY IS IN TOWN!  The Anchor Mission Ministry, located on the bypass just where the old railroad tracks used to be, is having their GRAND OPENING Saturday, August 8th at 11:00 am.  There will be hot dogs, water slides and tours of the facility.  This mission will feed the hungry 5 days a week and also provide showers and beds for the homeless.  It will offer daily devotionals along with the noon meals.  This is a ministry our community has greatly needed.  Please give your support.  They will accept prepared casseroles that can be frozen in their large freezer.  We will be setting an “Anchor” basket out in the narthex (much like our Angels of Grace basket) for supplies you might wish to donate.  They need laundry detergent, paper towels, toilet paper, soap, deodorant, face cloths, towels and any item for hygiene.  They will also accept monetary donations which can be sent to Brenda Knapp’s office. Please keep them in your prayers.

WORSHIP& EDUCATION NEWS:
 
ADULT EDUCATION: Will not meet until Sept.
SUNDAY SCHOOL: Will not meet during the months of June, July and Aug.
 
WORSHIP: August 2nd Holy Eucharist Rite II with Rev Arnold Hearn from Marianna as officiant in the CHAPEL!  We are celebrating summer and taking advantage of our beautiful chapel this week by holding services in there. The vestry encourages everyone to dress very casual and comfortable (shorts included).  This is a onetime thing, but provides us time to worship in the chapel and to celebrate summer as well as the Eucharist.
 
READINGS for Aug. 2nd are: Exodus 16:2-4, 9-15;Psalm 78:23-29; Ephesians 4:1-16; John 6:24-35.

 Midweek service on July 29th.  We will have midweek Holy Eucharist with Unction and prayers for healing this Wednesday at 5:30 in the chapel with Rev. Arnold Hearn officiating.
 
FELLOWSHIP NEWS:  Coffee time at 9:30 til 10:15 in the undercroft every Sunday!
 
ALTAR GUILD NEWS:  Team 1 (Susan’s team) will meet at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday,
 July 25th to polish all silver and brass.   Please let Susan know if you are unable to attend.

WORSHIP: July 19th Holy Eucharist Rite II with Rev Bill Burks from Humboldt TN as officiant.
 
READINGS for July 19th: Jeremiah 23:1-6; Psalm 23; Ephesians 2:11-22; Mark 6:30-34, 53-56.
 
 Midweek service on July 22th.  We will have midweek Holy Eucharist this Wednesday at 5:30 in the chapel with Rev. Arnold Hearn officiating.
 
VESTRY NEWS: There will be a vestry meeting this Monday, July 20th at 6:30 pm at the church.
 
NEW:  COFFEE TIME FROM 9:30 - 10:15 EVERY SUNDAY IN THE UNDERCROFT WHILE THERE IS NO SUNDAY SCHOOL OR ADULT EDUCATION.

Immediately following church this Sunday, there will be Food, Fun and Fellowship in the chapel to meet and greet our supply priest, Bill Burks and the All Church Council of Together for Hope from North Carolina.  I hope you will take this time to meet our visitors and share in the food and fun.

We will be hosting “Together for Hope” in our undercroft from July12th to July 24th.
The first group of about 22 from Calvary Baptist Church arrive late on Sunday the 12th and leave on the17th so unfortunately they won’t be able to attend church with us.  The next group of about 12 from Greystone Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC comes in on Saturday the 18th and will be with us until the 24th.  We will have a time of food, fun and fellowship on July 19th immediately after church in the chapel so we can meet and greet our guests from North Carolina and our supply priest, Rev. Bill Burks. 
 
On Sunday, July 12th, we will have Holy Eucharist with Rev. James Newsom from Germantown officiating.
 
On Sunday, July 19th, we will have Holy Eucharist with Rev. Bill Burks from Humboldt, TN officiating.
 
On Sunday, July 26th, Rev Ken Parks will be back with us to celebrate the Holy Eucharist.
