St. John’s Episcopal Church - Sunday, September 3

One Call Now:  In order to receive your text messages through our new phone contact system, you need to send a text message to 22300, type the message Alert, and send.  You will immediately receive a response from OCN “Thanks! Alerts will be sent from One Call Now when available.”  We will send out a short message later this week testing this set-up.

From Fr. Ray +

Our Fellowship Committee and their Chairperson, Carla Myers, did an awesome job with the luncheon and homemade ice cream social last Sunday following worship! Please let them know how much their efforts are appreciated.

Several folks have asked if there is a way to contribute to Hurricane Harvey relief through The Episcopal Church. A message from the Diocesan office said they are awaiting information from Texas Bishop, Andy Doyle, on how to best assist.  As soon as we have this information, we will pass it along to you.

We will be continuing our study of The Apostles’ Creed this week in Sunday School. Our topic this week is The Communion of the Saints.  Please consider joining us at 9:15 a.m. next Sunday!

Towards the end of September, I will be leading a six-week Confirmation/Informational Class on The Episcopal Church.  While geared towards those who want to be Confirmed or Received into membership at St. John’s and The Episcopal Church, it will also be an excellent opportunity to refresh your knowledge of our faith tradition. Bishop Benfield’s next pastoral visit to St. John’s will be February 4, 2018, at which time those who have completed the class will have the opportunity to be baptized and/or confirmed.

Blessings, Fr. Ray +

St. John’s Episcopal Church - Sunday, August 6, 2017

From Fr. Ray +

As an expression of our commitment to our community, St. John’s will be handing out backpacks and school supplies at The Cherry Street Fair on Saturday, August 12 from 5 p.m. till 8 p.m.  If you would like to be part of this outreach, please sign up for one of the thirty-minute blocks on the sign-up sheet on the table at the back of the church.  I will be there for the entire time and would enjoy your company as we make a bit of difference for some of the children in our community!

Many folks have asked me how D’Andrae is doing at his new residence in Booneville. I speak with him just about every day. He is enjoying his new home and opportunities. Particularly, he likes his part-time job there. He is learning many new skills that will serve him well moving forward.

We are continuing our study of The Apostles’ Creed during Adult Sunday School. We are currently on week 3 of a six-week course. All are welcome!

Blessings, Fr. Ray +
